Why can’t things stay the same? Why do we want things to change? Why can’t we have it both ways? The questions that spin through my head and likely yours at some point in your life.

When I have found myself wanting a challenge in my life I have sought change. When things were not going on the right path, I have sought change. When we have a goal we are not reaching we choose to change things so that we can. Unwanted change though, that is tough. While we go through life thinking and feeling different at times than our family or friends we still easily co-exist. I mean if you want white bread and I want wheat, that is easy enough, we will just have 2 loaves in out pantry. If you like Pizza and I don’t ( Don’t freak out, I love Pizza) I order something different. You get the picture.

The changes we are seeing in todays world are HARD. Change destabilises our world. The change may or may not even directly effect us to have an impact on us. The change will effect all of us differently based on our beliefs, generational divides and our general understanding of the issue. Sometimes our view of the situation is narrow due to our own review and the filters we place on the issues . Some of the changes we have no control over and that can be frustrating. Some changes though can be life altering and those are scary. We live in a world where we can feel loved and and safe one moment and frightened and in danger the next.

We have been experiencing global tragedies for all of my life but never have they been so frequent and so close to home as they have been in the last few years. We can theorize, we can politicize , some are even accused of believing in conspiracy theory. My conclusion is that no matter what our opinion, belief or thoughts are on any given subject someone will be offended. This isn’t really anything new. We have decades of literatrue and historical readings to show opposition and offended individuals. What has changed so drastically is how our Country is handling it. What has changed is how practices are so easily being accepted that are changing the entire make up of our country.

I now could choose to go into all my opinions on the current issues affecting our country . The issues that cause turmoil and fear. The issues that cause divisiveness in churches, political parties and even families. The very things that are separating us. But I won’t. What I want to bring is Peace. I want people to think of how, as an individual they can be a solution. It will feel like it is very small scale comparatively. I know the Cliche “Be the change you want to see in the world” It even sounds corny. No one person can change the current state of turmoil our Country is in. What we can change is who we seek out for the change.

Obviously age plays a factor in our desires to have things ” The way they used to be” I would love nothing more than my children and grandchildren to know the world I grew up in. Yes their world has some amazing opportunities and growth but a great deal of it has also been uncertainties.

There is one constant that “We The People” as a whole have taken advantage of. Christ. He is no longer welcome in school. He is no longer welcome at sporting events unless there is a crisis and those who previously think God does not belong there suddenly want his very presence, and HE shows up. There are people who want him removed from the Pledge of Allegiance. The very one who can be the change, who IS the change is being pushed further away. Here is a message though, not from me but from Jesus Christ alone.

Love your enemies; Forgive others; Serve others; Have Faith, Love your neighbor as yourself.

Those are words, I can bet we are all familiar with but if we really dissect them and apply them to the current troubles of our world think of the change we can be. These are actual teachings that Jesus used. I know, I understand and sadly am doubtful myself that we can make a transformation that so many of us want. There is however someone who can. Will you bring him back? We are vocal over so many current issues we are troubled by, can we be vocal about HIM ? Do you want to continue to say ” I wish things were like they used to be?”

I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14.6

Please don’t wait until You NEED him to call upon him. He needs You Always and “We The People” need Him.
